Lakeshore Academy for the New Evangelization
Make Disciples, Be Witnesses

Home

Jesus is calling us to make disciples and to be his witnesses on the Lakeshore, in West Michigan, and to the ends of the earth. Lakeshore Academy for the New Evangelization (LANE) is a school of adult discipleship that proclaims the Gospel to all people and empowers our regional Catholic community to live out Christ’s mission.

Bishop David Walkowiak

March 19, 7 p.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Parish

On the Solemnity of St. Joseph, the foster father of our Lord, LANE will welcome Bishop David Walkowiak, the spiritual father of the Diocese of Grand Rapids. Bishop Walkowiak will bless the Lakeshore Academy for the New Evangelization and deliver an address. His talk will be followed by a reception in Fr. Nash Hall. This is a free event, and the public is welcome.

“I recommend and endorse this academy for all Catholics (and non-Catholics) in our diocese. I believe this is an important outreach to our diocesan evangelization effort… I pray with you that it will bring about a renewed sense of the role our laity have in knowing the faith and spreading it.”

Most Reverend David J. Walkowiak, Bishop of Grand Rapids

A Tale of Three Cities: The Catholic Quest for Truth, Goodness, and Beauty

The Catechism tells us that we come to know God through Truth, Goodness, and Beauty. From its beginning, the Roman Catholic Church has been on a quest to know and serve Christ through these virtues. The stories of three cities exemplify this quest: Rome, Assisi, and Florence. We will make pilgrimage to these cities, learning their stories and listening to how we must faithfully continue our ancient quest for what is True, Good, and Beautiful. In so doing, we will learn to love our Lord all the more, striving to become the salt and light that he calls his Church to be.
